Preben is a Nyoongar from the Goreng and Balardong people of South Western Australia and has lived in Queensland for over 25 years. He has previously worked in various Indigenous areas including health, employment, social services and education. Preben also has a degree in Indigenous Community Management and Development from Curtin University of Technology Western Australia.
He currently manages the Higher Expectations Program – Secondary which provides secondary scholarship to indigenous students from the sixteen Cape York communities, Palm Island and Yarrabah to study in some of the most academically successful private schools throughout Queensland. Preben has a strong belief that with good positive support and encouragement our young Indigenous people can become future leaders.
